Q&A:

by Leamington Malfoof

Question by bonniethon (puirt a buel): Why is it that when people say hip hop isn’t music?
The majority of hip hop fans rush to point out acts like The Roots because “they use instruments”?

Does this mean that many hip hop fans themselves don’t consider turntables to be a musical instrument or sampling and beat making to be a legitimate musical artform?

Where do you stand on the matter yourself?
Steven M, I’m not confusing anything thank you. I think it’s you who needs to look up a dictionary. You, however, are confusing your own prejudices with facts.
54: What you said about how can something not be music but be accused of stealing music at the same time is absolutely spot on. That’s an excellent arguement against these people.

If you’re going to take it far enough with the stolen sounds thing, you could call Mozart a thief because he didn’t invent the piano or make the keys.
