Question by freaky_one21: How difficult is it to learn drums?
I have been wanting to learn an instrument for years now. I love music and everything associated with it, I just have never had the time to learn one. Now that I’m graduating high school and my school schedule will be a bit more lax for now, I feel it’s the best time to learn.
I’ve decided on drums because I like the way it sounds in songs. Percussion is just an interesting aspect of music to me. But I’m a bit concerned as the biggest part of learning them is rhythm. Now, I don’t know if this helps but I can pretty much hold a steady rhythm with my foot or tapping on something with two pencils haha. I understand the “There is no easy instrument” saying so I recognize it will take dedication and practice. But will it be more difficult on average for someone with absolutely no musical experience?

Drums are about Rhythm and you will need a year or so to learn basics like drum rolls and basic patterns if you are getting deep into it it can go from 5-7 years I’d say. If you are going to be doing it as a hobby and for fun most lifestyles can fit it and it isn’t too difficult, it could lead you to other things too but make sure you take your time and don’t after 1 year try to do something like a band unless your just playing around, It could lead you into a serous band though if you get deep into it so go give it a try first buy some drum sticks and just tap on a carpet see if you are still interested and then get either a cheaper electronic drum set or a single snare drum and after that go bigger alright!
